Market Report on Biomethane: Technologies and Costs of Conditioning Biogas and Feed-in into the Natural Gas Network

dena

The German biomethane market is growing rapidly due to ambitious targets for biogas feed-in set by the German government: by 2020 60 billion kWh of natural gas are planned to be substituted by biogas.

By the end of 2009, 30 upgrading plants will be feeding in about 3% of this target, in 2010 it will be 50 plants and 6%...

(see www.biogaspartner.com). Agriculturists, plant constructors and the energy sector are getting ready to install another 1,000 plants with an investment of 10 to 12 billion euros to fulfill the government' s targets by 2020. While Germany has placed itself in frontrunner position other European countries are also expanding their biomethane markets.

For the first time available in English, the "Special Edition: Market Report on Biomethane" is a two-part report providing the key facts on the development of the market for the upgrade and feeding of biogas into the German natural gas network.

It combines the German Energy Agency's in-depth market knowledge with the expertise of the renowned Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental Safety and Energy Technology UMSICHT in a comparison of relevant biogas upgrade technologies.
