Construction of plant for Liquified Biogas in Sweden has commenced
The construction of the new plant for Liquified Biogas (LBG) in Lidköping, Sweden, has commenced. Around 70 people had gathered on April 18th to witness the ceremony that was shared by the three cooperating partners: Lidköping Mayor Kjell Hedvall, Peter Unden, CEO of Swedish Biogas International and Anders Hedenstedt, CEO of Göteborg Energi.
Jointly, the three partners Lidköping Municipality, SBI and Göteborg Energi will invest 16 million Euro in the facility, which is one of the world's first plants for Liquefied Biogas. The plant is scheduled for completion in winter 2010/2011 and will provide 60 gigawatt hours Liquefied Biogas, destined for use in transport. This corresponds to biogas for 5 000 cars travelling 15,000 kms per year and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 16,000 tonnes per year.
